Description
This series of A5 booklets have been produced by combining the skills of :
Prompt Education - Photos, Visual Aids, Book Layout, Design and Conception; and
Hands Can Talk - Sign Language Graphics with Written Descriptions.
-
All pages in the booklets are 300gsm cardboard and cello glazed for longevity.
-
Each booklet is spiral bound for easy usage.
-
In each booklet there are bright, colourful and clear colour photos (one to a page) with the sign language graphic above the photo and a written description.
-
The title of each page has been written using the Australian Schooling Font.
-
In some instances there are more than one sign language graphic - this is because although Auslan is Australian Sign Language there are times that a sign can vary depending on which region you live in.
-
In these instances we have numbered the signs 1 & 2, as referred to in the Makaton Vocabulary (Auslan Edition) and Key Signs – a supplement to the Makaton Vocabulary books.
-
The sign language graphics are drawn in black with the second movement and arrows done in red to help in understanding.
- If you are not using the Makaton resources we suggest you check with Deaf groups in your area or choose the sign that you feel would be easiest for the child to produce especially when looking at a child with a physical disability or poor fine motor skills.
-
We have written a basic description on how to do the signs trying to keep it as simple as possible.
- This book contains 20 sign language graphics covering popular first words spoken by a child in alphabetical order.
